Busy Day Tomorrow!

We have a very exciting day planned for tomorrow! In the morning we will be visiting our Kindergarten buddies with the letters you wrote. After recess we will be in the learning commons for Markerspace time where there will be a large selection of activities, and we will end the afternoon with a holiday movie. Winter Concert Details

The winter concert is on Wed, Dec 11th. Please drop your child off to Mrs. Zupnik's Room 216 at 6:15. They will be supervised by Mrs. Barley. The concert will run from 6:30-7:30. 

Unfortunately my husband is working nights and the concert runs past my girls' bedtime. I know our class will be amazing and I look forward to all the pictures!!! ⛄

Special Announcement

Our class reached another 100 points! Way to go everyone. As their prize the students voted on watching the movie Abominable on Fri, Dec 6th. The students may bring in a "stuffy" and a small blanket/pillow. ❤

Homework:

1. Practice reading aloud the good copy of your "What's In a Name?". Remember your oral mark communication mark will consist of appropriate volume, making eye contact, using expression and being a good audience member. I can't wait to hear your presentations as you have been working so hard on them. Presentations will be on Fri, Dec 6th.

Help from families


YORK REGION POLICE HOLIDAY HEROES CAMPAIGN

Hello Grade 4 Families,

Our school has partnered with the York Regional Police to help families in York Region who are having a difficult time this holiday season. 100 per cent of the donations directly support families from our community who are in need. We are looking to help tweens, teens and babies. Some suggestions are books, personal hygiene items such as shampoo/conditioner or bodywash, school supplies, gift cards, diapers, wipes, clothing, and blankets. Unwrapped toys and winter clothing will also be accepted.

The students have their math duo-tangs in their backpacks to review their notes. They studied with a partner during math today, and worked on a rounding review sheet which was corrected in class.

A few announcements:

1. Our class will be entering a bookmark contest. Students will create a design about what they love about reading. Three winners will be chosen from the Junior division. The winners will have their bookmark published and distributed in the Learning Commons plus a poster of their choice. Wish them luck!

2. Number Sense and Numeration (Place Value) Quiz #2 will be on Tues, Oct 22nd. See student agenda for quiz outline. We will be doing lots of practice for the quiz for the remainder of the week.

3. Fri, Oct 18th is our whole school DPA, our first PRIDE assembly, and Spirit Day (students wear their house colour. They have this information in their agenda in case they forget their colour).

Advanced notice: Tomorrow (Friday the 20th) I have booked the I-Pads during literacy. In small groups, you will be practicing for your "Starring Me" presentation. One person will record you, you will watch back your practice presentation, and your group will give you feedback. "Starring Me" Presentations begin on Tuesday, September 24th. I can't wait!

Your success criteria for the presentation:
1. Use an appropriate volume
2. Make eye contact with the audience

Grade 4 Families, are part of our Personal Narrative Unit, students will be completing a visual/written poster of information about themselves. You may send in baby pictures for them to glue directly on their project, or I am happy to make a photocopy and send back the original. Please just write me a note in your child's agenda which you would prefer.

Some information they will need:

The city they were born, how much they weighed, and how long they were at birth. They can record this information in their writer's notebook.
